On January 12, 1974, one of God's greatest creations, Melanie Jayne Chisholm was sent to this planet. Melanie was
born in Liverpool England. At one point in time before the Spice Girls, Melanie was a ballet dancer and session
vocalist. One of her worst jobs she says was working in a Chip & Fish Factory. Melanie C. loves soccer.
In 1998, Melanie had her first single without the other girls, the #2 hit with Brian Adams, 'When You're Gone'.
In 1999, while the 4 remaining Spices were on hiatus from the band, Melanie began to focus on a solo career.
She was about to find out that she could have success outside of the Spice Girls. Melanie's debut single
was a hard rock track titled 'Going Down', which went to #4 on the charts. Her breakthrough album, 'Northern Star' came
after. Her 2nd single was much softer than 'Going Down'. The next single from 'Northern Star' was the title track.
The single also went to #4. However, Melanie C. was about to score her first solo #1 hit. The 3rd single from
NS was 'Never Be The Same Again' which featured TLC's rapper, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. The song was a smash and would
be followed by another #1 single for Melanie. Melanie's 4th, and undoubtedly the best known single from Northern Star,
was 'I Turn To You'. The song became another big hit for her. The final single from NS, was 'If That Were Me',
the single didn't have as much success as the previous ones, but landed nicely at #17.
In 2000, Melanie returned along with Victoria, Emma and Mel B. for the next Spice Girls album, Forever. The album
featured the hits 'Goodbye', 'Holler' and 'Let Love Lead The Way'.
4 years after Melanie's breakthrough debut, Northern Star, Melanie was ready to release a second album. In early
2003, Melanie C. returned to the music scene with the #7 hit single, 'Here It Comes Again'. The album 'Reason' brought
Melanie back to the charts. The 2nd single from Reason, was the happy, radio friendly tune, 'On The Horizon' which peaked
#14. The lucky people of Japan would get Melanie's great song, 'Lets Love' as a 3rd single. For the other countries,
the next single was 'Yeh Yeh Yeh', an awsome rock song. And then the last single from 'Reason' was the beautiful song,
'Melt'.
In 2005, Melanie came back with her greatest material yet which she released on her own record label, Red
Girl Records. Her first single from the much awaited 3rd album, 'Beautiful Intentions', was the top 10 hit, 'Next Best
Superstar'. 'Beautiful Intentions' delivered an edgier sound than Reason or Northern Star, and is a great rock album.
Melanie released the excellent track, 'Better Alone' as a single (in which the single sold out of). Melanie has
more recently enjoyed her biggest single since the Northern Star era, 'First Day Of My Life' which became her third #1. Melanie
released 'Better Alone' in other countries with a new video for it and eligibility for chart entry. 'First Day Of My
Life' has gone on to be a huge hit. Melanie's re-release of 'Beautiful Intentions' has went Gold in Germany. The
album has also went Platinum in Portugal and gold in Switzerland.
'Beautiful Intentions' has became one of the best selling independent albums of 2005/06.
'First Day of My Life' has been certified platinum in Germany.
Melanie C became the first former Spice Girl to have a number 1 album in any country (Portugal, for 9 consecutive weeks).
In late 2006, Melanie released a Live Hits DVD.
In 2007, Melanie's released 2 new singles in March. The first, a remake of the song 'I Want Candy' for a movie
with the same title. The second from her upcoming fourth solo album, a ballad titled 'The Moment You Believe'.
Her fourth solo record, 'This Time' was released after the first two singles. A third single, 'Carolyna' followed in
June and the title track as a fourth single in October. The album eventually released in Canada with "Carolyna" as the
lead single and also saw the release of the song "Understand" as the 5th single.
On February 22nd, 2009 Melanie gave birth to a daughter named Scarlet Starr.
